Jordan Pond

Home > Photo Galleries > Jordan Pond

Jordan Pond is perhaps the most well known locale in Acadia National Park, with the possible exception of Cadillac Mountain. The Jordan Pond Tea House, located at the end of the pond opposite the scenic North and South Bubbles (see below), has been in operation since 1847. While hiking along the west side of the pond, we characterized the vertical zonation of forest at disturbed and undisturbed sites along the trail. Go here to see photos of our trip up the South Bubble at the far end of Jordan Pond to see the large glacial erratic called Balance Rock.
