Rocky Intertidal Zone at the MDIBLHome > Photo Galleries > Rocky Intertidal Zone We sampled and characterized the rocky intertidal community along the cliffs at the Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory in Salisbury Cove. We measured the width of each of the major vertical zones and identified as many species in each as possible. Sand beach, the tide pools/tidal riffle and the rock intertidal zone represent three high energy (high wave action) coastal marine communities. Click on a photo below to enlarge.
